Do You Remember Horace Horse Collar?

Disney HORACE HORSE COLLAR Stuffed Baby Toy circa 1940's by GUND
We found this vintage Disney character doll at an Estate Sale about a month ago. It was made by GUND when their trademark logo was a lower case cursive "g" with rabbit ears.

Horace was Mickey Mouse's sidekick in the cartoon series from 1929 to about 1940, before I was even born. Do you know who Horace's girlfriend was way back then?

I found it interesting, when I did my research on him, to find that in the same cartoon he would at times be on all four legs, behaving as a horse, and then in the next scene be on his hind legs, all dressed up like a cowboy, with hands instead of his front hooves.

He did not last as a Disney character in the Mickey mouse cartoons, but was edged out as Goofy became more important as a side kick.

Hope it's been a great turkey day. And that a year from now you have even more to be thankful for.

Thanks for stopping by, Kilroy. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day, too!

Boy he sure looks like Goofy. This was a fun and educational post. I took a pop culture class at Bama and we watched those old Steamboat Willy cartoons. It's interesting to see the evolution into what I think could be the world's most popular and lasting character.

Now a Pop Culture class sounds like it would be very interesting, Shelia!!

Do you know who Horace's girl friend was? I actually remember her!! She's pretty easy to find if you do a search for him.

That would be Clarabelle the Cow, but I had to look it up. DB, this is a fun business you have gotten yourself into.

Give that lady a silver dollar! You're right, Shelia!! And oddly enough, I do remember Clarabelle.

How about an out click from Blog Village to start your month...

I did it!

Look forward to see you at Villagers go...GONZO!

Thanks, Kilroy. Now, let me see what I want to enter, before I get busy and forget about it.
